so i own a small production company andwe have offices in charlotte, northcarolina and in los angeles. so the other day iwas at a networking event in charlotte, north carolina and i wenthand a guy my business card, and he took a look at it, and startedlaughing. and he says: "a business card? that is so 1990's -- nobody hasthose anymore." yes they do. truth be known: it's for 2015 as well. if you are in los angeles rightnow, and you went to a networking event a mixer, and meetup group, whatever, andyou handed someone at your business card - they would hand you one right back. it's a different market but you know what?
they're rockin and rollin and groovin' withthe times - and they're networking and and makingbusiness happen. now in north carolina we're a little back-in-the-woods but guess what? we still have business cards. i take all ofmy business cards and i log them into a book and i cantell at a glance when i'm doing a production oh, these are all my caterers, these areall my sound mixers, these are all my photographers orcinematographers. these are all my casting directors, these are all my actresses, these are all my actors. these are all of my location scouts.
whatever it is, very quickly you can pull together all the people you need for an entireproduction. now, it's true that were on social media. so, if i get home and know that yourname is jason - um how am i gonna find you on twitter ortumbler? or facebook? or google+? or plaxo? or ugh twitter what whatever they are?how am i going to find you if i don't even know your name? and i can't send you an email and say "hey what's your contact information?" because i don't have your name. okay? so yes you do need a business card
if you are in business. and we have three more good ideas they're gonna cover business cards because it is so important that you know how to have a businesscard, and how to get the most from your business card. but do you need abusiness card? yes you do. because it will help people know how to find you, so they can hire you. and it's a good idea. it's a good idea.
